The youth in the Liberty Missouri Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints learned about missionary work firsthand at their monthly activity on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the stake center.

This special devotional for the youth was led by President Jeff and Sister Jen Barnes (Hodge Park Ward), and focused on the Barnes’ call to serve as mission leaders serving in the Poland Warsaw Mission starting in July 2026. They engaged the youth through thoughtful questions about preparing for and serving their own missions and shared meaningful insights on the importance of missionary work. President Barnes also reflected on his experience serving as a young missionary in Poland.

Recently returned missionaries Zach Morris (Shoal Creek Valley Ward) and Paige Russell (Kellybrook Ward) offered inspiring remarks, sharing personal experiences from their service and inviting the youth to go out with missionaries in their own wards to gain a better understanding of the work. Both emphasized that as they do this, they will gain a stronger testimony of serving others and the Lord. A special musical number, “Daughters of Light,” was performed by Sariah Ransom (Liberty Ward) and Jill VanYperen (Hodge Park Ward).

A highlight of the evening was a missionary video featuring members of our stake currently serving missions. Each missionary greeted the youth—in several different languages from the areas where they are serving—and shared what they love to teach, as well as their favorite aspects of missionary service. Leaders said the spirit of missionary work was strongly felt throughout the meeting.

Following the devotional, the youth participated in an Easter egg hunt held both inside and outside the stake building. Each egg contained chocolate along with a scripture reference. The leaders said it was to encouraging both fun and reflection. The older youth council enjoyed hiding all of the eggs in discrete places, while the younger youth tried to find all the eggs as quickly as possible. Leaders were happy to report that more than 80 youth attended.
