Liberty Stake Youth Event “Grill’n and Chill’n” a Success
On Friday, July 18, the Liberty Stake Youth Council held a “Grill’n and Chill’n” activity at Bennett Park baseball field. Despite the summer heat, the evening was a tremendous success, with approximately 80 youth in attendance. Thanks to canopies, plenty of cold water, and a large water tank for games, everyone stayed cool while enjoying an evening of friendship, laughter, and connection.
The Stake Young Men presidency grilled hot dogs for dinner and served them with chips, cookies, watermelon, lemonade, water bottles, and popsicles.
The Stake Young Women presidency and chaperones ran the games.
Stake Youth Council members played games with the younger youth in attendance, rotating through a variety of activities, like
- Water relays – Sponge,
- Cup, and Duck Duck
- Goose
- Water balloon volleyball
- Spikeball
- Cornhole
- 9-Square
- Football
- Frisbee
- Kickball
It was a successful summer activity for gathering our youth in a fun, welcoming environment where friendships were strengthened, leaders connected with youth, and everyone left smiling, soaked, and looking forward to the next activity.
Stake member shares his experience working on new hymnbook in fireside
“Here is a wonderful example of taking a talent the Master entrusts to you and returning it to Him with increase, to His great pleasure and use and a larger life for yourself. Brother Mark Nye initiated, from his own interest, a project which led to intense involvement in producing the Church’s new volume, Hymns for Home and Church. On the evening of June 7, 2026, Brother Nye presented a stake fireside talking about it and it was…interesting! And spirit-filled. Daughter Leisel Malan provided piano accompaniment, granddaughter Louisa Malan conducted the music, and son-in-law Andrew Malan presided over the event, with Marjorie McKinney (Doniphan Ward) giving the invocation and Ben Brady (North Brook Park Ward) the benediction. We closed by singing new hymn #1006, “Think a Sacred Song.” The Malans and Nyes are members of the Shoal Creek Valley Ward.
