Church Member Participates in Baccalaureate Ceremony

President Rudi Garcia, second counselor in the Missouri Independence Mission, gave the keynote address at this year’s Baccalaureate Ceremony held for Liberty High and Liberty North High Schools on May 7, 2026. President Garcia, former counselor in the Liberty Missouri Stake presidency, was given the honor as president of the Liberty-area Ministerial Alliance (LMA). President Garcia focused on loving God and your neighbor and serving others. This was the first year the LMA planned the Baccalaureate Ceremony.

Liberty/Shoal Creek Stakes Glow Dance a Success

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Liberty Missouri Stake partnered with the Shoal Creek Missouri Stake to host a “Summer’s Out Neon Glow Dance” for youth 14 years and older. DJs Melius and Haney rocked out tunes and had a big screen for the youth.

ICON Events set up the black lights and decor throughout the cultural hall and other rooms in the building. More than 180 youth attended the activity during the last week of school, enjoying treats, glow paint, glow sticks, glow-in-the-dark corn hole, LED seating and tables, a huge digital LED floor and a selfie booth.

SCV Ward Gets Ready for Trek

On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the Shoal Creek Valley Ward put on a Trek Activity for both the young men and young women. They had stations set up to rotate through to get the youth excited for trek. Stations included, make-your-own ice cream using a ziptop bag, a game called Pioneer tops, a make-a-cushion-for-your-trek-bucket craft, a station where participants read a chapter in the Book of Mormon and/or write a journal entry, both of which added to their trek points, a station on indexing for trek points, and one for filling out a trek points tracker. 

President Perschon to Serve as Officer in Liberty-area Ministerial Alliance

President Brody Perschon, second counselor of the Liberty Missouri Stake presidency, was elected to serve as the vice president of the Liberty-area Ministerial Alliance (LMA) on May 21, 2026. President Perschon will serve a one-year term, starting in September. He will take over the seat at LMA that Rudi Garcia previously held as member of the stake presidency. Lori Garcia, Liberty Missouri Stake Communications Director, also serves in the LMA group, as well as Just Serve Specialist Frankie Harper.

Stake YW Focuses on New Group Names

Starting June 1, 2026, the new Young Womens’ group names will become official church-wide. As a stake Young Womens’ presidency, President Hannah Aiono and her counselors have been using the month of May to present the meaning behind the new names. The general Young Womens’ Instagram account featured information about the new names, their meanings and songs.

 

Builders of Faith

Purpose Statement:

A Builder of Faith helps build God’s kingdom through her faith in Christ, steadfast witness, and actions that uplift and encourage others.

“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord.”

Women in the Scriptures:

The woman at the well was the first person recorded in the gospels to hear Jesus Christ declare that He was the Messiah. She became a Builder of Faith.

Messengers of Hope

Purpose Statement:

A Messenger of Hope carries Christ’s message of hope to the weary, speaking peace, sharing comfort, and lifting hearts through the power of the Spirit.

Study the Scriptures:

“And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;”

“Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life.”

Mosiah 18:8–9

Women in the Scriptures:

Mary Magdalene was the first to see the risen Lord. She became a witness of Christ and a Messenger of Hope.

Gatherers of Light

Purpose Statement:

A Gatherer of Light shares her testimony of Jesus Christ, actively participates in the gathering of Israel, and seeks out those who need to feel the savior’s love.

Study the Scriptures:

“Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.”
