Sister Megan Wright
California Arcadia Mission - Spanish-speaking

Sister Megan Wright (Doniphan Ward) recently returned from serving in the California Arcadia Mission. Sis Wright served 18 months in the sunshine state teaching the gospel in Spanish. In her first area, Sis Wright was thrown into the deep end from the get-go.
“My first area, we were teaching this friend and we thought he was ready for baptism. My trainer told me to memorize the baptism invite in Spanish, but I had to learn it in 30 minutes. I didn’t know if I could do it,” Sis Wright confessed.
Sis Wright did her best to memorize the invite in Spanish and when they got to the friend’s house, it was really loud, as the friend’s wife was cooking and cleaning and vacuuming. She wondered how she would invite the spirit with so much noise and chaos. But when it came time to invite their friend to be baptized, the house went silent.
“The kitchen became so quiet, and I was able to invite him to be baptised in Spanish. The spirit was undeniable and he said ‘yes.’ Now he’s working on preparing for the Melchizedek Priesthood and going to the temple. It strengthened my testimony to trust in the spirit. God works when we learn to trust Him.”
Sis Wright admitted that experience set the tone for her mission.
“That was a witness that I was supposed to learn Spanish, and I love [that friend] so dearly. He reminds me of my grandma who passed away the week I went into the MTC. I am so glad the Lord trusted me to teach him. It changed my life!”
Sis Wright said that the temple and her patriarchal blessing were keys to being prepared for a mission.
“The temple is so important, whether we have a recommend or not. Being in the temple, being in the presence of the Lord, makes the most difference. I feel the most peace at the temple. For those youth that are struggling, the temple truly is a special place, and a place to grow closer to Christ.”
She also encouraged all the youth to find the desire to get their patriarchal blessings and to use them and read them daily.
“It shows you what the Lord thinks of you. It helped me on my mission.”
Since her return, Sis Wright started serving in the temple, and will work until the fall when she’ll move to Provo, Utah.
“I also attend institute. I love institute!”
